Sajan loses semi-final bout at U23 World Wrestling, still will fight for bronze

Sajan’s victory march at the U23 World Wrestling championship was halted as he lost out his semi-final bout. Indian was up against Kodai SAKURABA from Japan and was looking good to win the bout till 1 minute into second half with 2-1 lead in his favor. But the Japanese came back strongly to score 4 pointer and put Sajan under pressure by taking lead of 5-2. The Indian tried his best to make a comeback but could only reduce the margin to 4-5 and lost the semi-final bout.

Earlier Sajan the triple Junior world medallist created history in the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest by entering the semi-finals to become the first ever Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to book a last 4 place at the U23 World Wrestling. In the 77kg category quarterfinal bout Sajan defeated Per Albin OLOFSSON of Sweden.

Sajan will now play for Bronze medal on Saturday night against the winner of the repechage round.
