The wait for the Olympics has started taking a toll on the wrestlers. World Champion Adeline Gray feelings bear testament of it. The USA wrestler on her Instagram account wrote that it takes years of preparation to get ready to be part of the Olympic team. But now with the Tokyo Games postponed to 2021, the team ‘feels more than a year away’.
“I thought I was going to make my 2nd Olympic team today. The path of making an Olympic Team is a build-up. It is a process that takes years to be ready, I felt ready. I thought I may cry April 5, 2020, because I cried so hard at the 2016 Olympic Trials after earning my title as Olympian forever. My place on the @teamusa Olympic team feels more than a year away,” the five-time World Champion in 76kg said.
The International Olympic Council (IOC) announced that the Olympic Games will be held next year from July 23 to August 9 due to the COVID-19 crisis.
