The Takhti Cup wrestling championship has concluded and as expected the wrestlers from Iran reigned supreme in the event. Such was a domination of hosts Iran that they won 9 out of 10 gold medals at stake at the event. The only gold medal that eluded Iran was in the 61kg category as Nurgan Aleksandrov of Russia won the category by defeating Bufa Sadat of Iran hence denying the clean sweep for the host country.
Iran wins the team championship, Armenia number 2
Iran also won the team championships of the event by scoring 245 points. The strong Armenian team at the championships led by European Champion Arsen Haratonian was number 2 with 175 points. Russia was distant third with 25 points as they did not field wrestlers in most of the categories.
