Although wrestlers have been stuck in self-isolation in their home due to the Coronavirus crisis, they have found different ways to keep training and stay fit. While some of them have turned their gym into the mini-training arena, some are using indigenous ways to keep themselves in shape. But Ulukbek Zholdoshekov of Kyrgyzstan has found a different way to practice. The U23 world champion trains with his mother.
He recently posted a video on Instagram in which he could be seen practising moves with his mother in a fun way. Initially reluctant to join, she also starts reciprocating to her son’s enjoyment. The Kyrgyz wrestler captioned the video and said that he will soon become the wrestler because his ‘mama trains him’.
Ulukbek is the current Asian Champion in 61kg freestyle. He also won gold in U23 Asian Championship in 2019.
Other wrestlers are also trying to continue training despite the shortcomings caused due to the pandemic. USA wrestler had earlier revealed that since she cannot train at the Olympic training centre, she is turning her garage into mini-Colorado Spring.
Indian wrestler Pooja Dhanda is also using this time to start yoga and meditation. She believes that it will help her improve her concentration and focus. “Yoga is helping me a lot. It will help me stay fit and also help me have a focus. This will help me during crucial bouts,” she had told WrestlingTV.
Bajrang Punia and Jitender are also training in their apartment in Sonepat. They have all the basic training equipment’s such as Bulgarian bag, gym and skipping ropes, and boxes to help them train.
