By the time the Olympics arrives in Tokyo next year, wrestling would have become one of the most followed sports in India. And the mass following of this ancient sport is justified given India’s performance at the Olympics in the past decade.

India had won its first Olympic medal at the 1952 Helsinki Games. It was only after 52 years that another Indian climbed the podium. Since then India has won three more Olympic medals between 2012 London and 2016 Rio Games.

Moreover, at World Championships, India has managed to win 18 medals including five at 2019 Worlds in Nur-Sultan.

Today, Dutt has taken up a new role of a coach and trains future Indian wrestlers at his academy in Gohana, Haryana.
