The legend of Greco-Roman wrestling, Russian Roman Vlasov, recalled a difficult childhood. Two-time Olympic champion, two-time world champion and four-time European champion Vlasov talked to a correspondent for Match TV. “There is no doubt that I must win. I am sure every time that this is my bread, that this person is now trying to take my bread, which I must bring to my family. I should remember everything that I have experienced.”
The thing is that Vlasov had a very difficult childhood. The champion recalls: “My mother brought up my brother and me alone. She was forced to work three jobs. We were given an apartment which we had to share with a man who was a drug addict. You wake up – and he ran out of money for a dose, he would then steal our dishes and sell it. The guys who surrounded me were criminals. I was easy for me to get into bad company. Mom always said that the struggle is an opportunity. Perhaps this is the only chance to break out into the people and make a living. ”
Vlasov is generally pleased with the postponement of the Olympic Games to 2021. He says, “I think that everything is for the best because there was too much at stake. I felt that somewhere it was possible to strengthen, improve. This time allowed me to do everything. It was possible to finally be with my family and get away from everything. Strength returned, psychologically released all this pressure. ”
