United World Wrestling (UWW) President Nenad Lalovic chaired a web conference with the federation of national federations to discuss the way forward for wrestling. The world governing body has instructed the national federations to organize regional tournaments with limited participation before international competitions, reported Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) official news platform. Besides this, decisions were made on the budget and investments, and the suspension of office activities, amongst other things. UWW is also planning to begin an online education program from June 2020.

It had earlier, cancelled all the international competitions until July 1 including World Olympic Qualifiers and European youth and junior championships. The world governing body had also announced updates for the Qualification system for the coronavirus-delayed Tokyo Olympics.
The main principles and rules remained the same. While the continental Olympic qualifiers will to be held in Morocco (African), Hungary (European) and China (Asian), the world qualifiers will be organised in Bulgaria.
However, the main change was made in the document is the eligibility to attend the Olympic Games. The wrestlers who will turn 18 in 2021 that is were born in 2003, will be allowed to compete in the Qualifiers as well as the Olympics Games. The Summer Games will be held from July 23 to August 9.
