Viky was born in 3-8-1999 in Silana, Jhajjar District. His Father and Uncle were wrestlers but both of them couldn’t make it big
because of injuries and extreme poverty. Viky’s Father had to endure so much poverty that having proper food was also a luxury. But, Farming changed the families fortunes and his Father made a point to make their son Viky a wrestler.
Vicky -I want to do what my Father couldn’t do and even now, he borrows money from here and there whenever I need something. He doesn’t let me know but I know about all the sacrifices.
Viky started wrestling in 2011 when he was 12 years old. He used to take shower in a pond in his village and there was a mud Akhara near the pond where he started going to learn wrestling after his Father pushed me. In 2012, he shifted to Satya Akhara in Birdhana village, 14 km from his village. Till 2016, he used to wrestle on Dangal and the switch to the mat was challenging as he lost in the Haryana State trials and he didn’t have good training partners.
World number 6 Viky trains at Chattarsal Akhara now where he gets suggestions about the technical and tactical aspects of his game from his idol Sushil Kumar. He also finds inspiration from his friends Ravi Kumar and Deepak Punia.
