Vinesh including 4 Indian girls in line for bronze tonite after disappointing morning show on Day 4

After the golden day 3, Indian women will look to pocket few bronze medals tonite. Sakshi Malik is the lone Indian warrior to make it to the finals of Asian Wrestling Championships, rest 4 Indian girls will vie for bronze medals in the evening session at KD Jadhav Stadium in Delhi.

The level of competition of the Asian Championship was high today as couple of world and Olympic champions were in fray in the olympic categories of 53kg, 57kg, 62kg. As the competition increased, Indian women including the queen of Indian wrestling Vinesh Phogat wilted under pressure.

Bronze bout 53Kg –  Vinesh Phogat (IND) vs Thi Ly KIEU (VIE)

The Mayu Mukaida jinx continued for Vinesh as she lost third consecutive time by 2-6 to the Japanese champion in the 53kg category. As a consolation Vinesh will now play for bronze today evening @ 6PM against 2019 South East Asian Games gold medallist from Vietnam Thi Ly KIEU.

While Vinesh would like to end the day on a high by winning bronze medal in front of her home crowd. But the questions about her ability to put across champions like Mukaida will still remain.

Bronze Medal 57Kg – Anshu (IND) vs Sevara ESHMURATOVA (UZB)

Lot was expected from Anshu after her heroic Silver medal at the Rome Ranking Series event in January. The 19 year old delivered also in the quarterfinals by easily thumping 2018 Junior world silver medallist Nuraida Anarkulova of Kyrgyzstan but against Olympic champion Risako Kawai, Anshu failed to put up any fight and lost 0-10.

Now the consolation bronze is up for grab for the Indian youngster.
 
Bronze Medal – 62Kg –  Sonam (Ind) vs Aisuluu TYNYBEKOVA (KGZ)

If someone was on the critics radar today in the morning session that was 18 year old Sonam Malik. Two time cadet world champion lost her semi-finals to world medallist Yukako Kawai but impressed everyone with fight she put up against the senior pro.

The youngest member of the Indian squad can further elevate her status as she is about to fight 2019 world champion Aisuluu TYNYBEKOVA of Kyrgyzstan for the bronze medal. If somehow she can put across Tynybekova, the debate for Indian candidate for Asian Olympic Qualifiers will settle once for all.

Bronze Medal – 72Kg – Gursharan Preet Kaur (IND) vs Tsevegmed ENKHBAYAR (MGL)

In the last of the four bronze medal bouts, Gursharan Preet Kaur of India will be up against Mongolian Tsevegmed ENKHBAYAR in the 72kg category. The super mom of Indian wrestling has made an international comeback after a long gap of seven years and with a bronze medal she can prove to the world that she is far from finished.
