Wrestling Federation of India’s (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Singh on Monday announced that he will donate Rs one crore from his next Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) installment to the PM-CARES Fund to fight coronavirus pandemic.
Singh in a letter addressed to the Chairman of MPLAD said, “I, hereby give my consent for release of Rs one crore from my next MPLAD installment due for the release by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) during the financial year 2020-21 to the central government pool or Head of Account as may be decided by the Government of India for the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the country”.
Last week, all Member of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assemblies of Bharatiya Janata Party had decided to donate their one-month remuneration to the central government’s initiative to fight against the virus.
“All MPs & MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party will donate their one-month remuneration/salary to the central relief fund to support the fight against Covid19. All MPs of BJP will release Rs 1 crore from their MPLADS fund to the central relief fund in support to fight against Covid-19,” JP Nada, BJP President on Saturday tweeted.
India has reported over 1100 positive cases so far. The death toll due to COVID-19 has crossed the 30-mark. The country is currently in a 21-days national lockdown which is expected to end by April 15.
