Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Wednesday, President Brij Bhushan will chair a meeting with the national coaches regarding the roadmap going into the postponed Tokyo Olympics next year. As many as 30 coaches including the three chief coaches – Jagminder Singh in freestyle, Hargobind Singh in Greco Roman and Kuldeep Malik in women’s wrestling —  will be the part of the virtual discussion which will be held tomorrow. WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar said the main agenda for the discussion is to know what will be the plan of action once things normalise.

“Normally, we are in touch with the coaches. But this meeting will be to know what are their plans for once the training resumes,” he told WrestlingTV.

The Sports Ministry will also be holding a meeting with 11 National Sports Federations (NSF) on Thursday to assess the way forward going into the deferred Tokyo Olympics next year.

Tomar said the meeting will mostly be about explaining how we plan on making the Annual Calendar for Training and Competition (ACTC) and by when can it be submitted.

“From our end, we expressed our desire for India to host as many international competitions in the future whenever normalcy returns,” he said.

The global sporting calendar for 2020 including the Olympics has been disrupted by the outbreak of coronavirus. The Tokyo-bound extravaganza was rescheduled and will be held next year from July 23 to August 9.
