What wrestlers are doing during the Coronavirus outbreak in Dagestan? Watch Video

Dagestan is known to produce some of the greatest wrestlers to ever walk the mat. Another Dagestanian Abdulrashid Sadualaev was expected to carry on the legacy at this year’s Olympics. But the outbreak of Coronavirus has disrupted all the plans. The pandemic has pushed the Tokyo-bound Summer Games to 2021 and has forced to training camps to be shut. But this has not dampened the warrior spirit in wrestlers of Dagestan. Although they are not able to take to the mat, they have taken to the street to help people fight COVID-19.

They give out meals to older persons and people with low income. 2014 World Champ Abdulsalam Gadisov and Murad Kudiamagamedov have urged others to help too.

Earlier, had shared a video in which could be seen going from door to door to help the authorities to distribute the essential items and food to the people. He also visits a house and meets a kid who aspired to be a wrestler when he grows up. Sadulaev ties his laces and gives him the packed food he brought.

Many other wrestlers have also stepped up to help the government fight the crisis. Earlier, Indian wrestler, Babita Phogat was seen distributing food to the poor workers in her society.

Many sportspersons have also donated to the cause. 2018 Asian Games Champion Bajrang Punia and 2012 London Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt had donated to Haryana’s Coronavirus Relief fund. While Punia donated six months of his salary, Dutt had contributed Rs one lakh
