Wrestling amid Covid: Wrestlers across world training hard for Tokyo Olympics; Check out pics

Wrestling is slowly getting back on its legs. Wrestlers from the across the world have resumed their training for the covid delayed-Toyo Olympics. The national federations have also come up with guidelines to resume their camp prior to the world wrestling championships. Recently, the USA world champ David Taylor had shared a picture of his training on Instagram. He wrote: “New week. Same attitude. Focused on improvement”.

Here are wrestlers from around the world and their training pics:

Bajrang Punia:

The Indian wrestler is currently training at the ongoing men’s national camp in Sonepat. Punia is amongst the 26 wrestlers who are part of the training camp which will end on December 31.

Risako Kawai:

The Olympic champ is training individually after Japan federation decided to postpone the camp due to rising covid cases in the country. Kawai will bid her chances for the Tokyo Games in 57kg weight category.

Erica Wiebe:

If there is one wrestler who has made the most of the forced-break it is the 2016 Olympic gold medallist. Wiebe is currently pursuing an MBA course. Despite this, she has not let her training get hampered.

Roman Vlasov:

Vlasov too has resumed his training for the delayed-games. He shared a video and wrote: “You can’t even imagine how much pleasure I get at this moment. Friends, appreciate the time in sports, because it goes away so quickly … everything needs to be done in due time. Well, I can’t wait to get out on the competition mat, because my time has not passed yet”.

Jordan Burroughs:

Burroughs understands the importance of being fit and be in top shape. 74kg is one of the most competitive weight classes in men’s wrestling. Boasting the like of Frank Chamizo, and Zaurbek Sidakov, Burroughs will have to give his all, if he wants to stand a chance to clinch another gold at the Olympics.

Jitender:

The Indian wrestler decided to return to his roots during the lockdown to stay in shape. He and Bajrang trained in mud which is the traditional way in India. Jitender is  also attending the camp in Sonepat.
