Wrestling News: 2016 Rio Olympic medallist Aniuar Geduev has decided to retire from wrestling after a decade long career of many highs. The wrestler told WrestlingUA, “I have decided to end my sports career. I have achieved a lot and I am generally happy with it. There are several reasons for this me making this decision. One of them is that I have been on the carpet since I was seven years old and I think that’s enough. Now I’m doing it only for myself”.

The 33-year-old wrestler is two-time European Champion in 74kg freestyle and 2015 world medallist. At the Rio Olympics, he lost to ‘The Great’ Hassan Yazdani of Iran and settled for a second-place finish on the podium. Besides this, he is also the title holder in European Games and Wrestling World Cup.
Speaking on the current Russian generation, he says,”Our team now has a lot of young good guys. I wish them all the best of luck. I have not competed since the Olympic Games in Rio, and therefore I had ended my career a long time ago”. Talking about his post-retirement plans he says that he has not yet decided his future plans. “I have a lot of attractive offers. But I have not yet decided what to do next. However, it is for certain that I will continue training,” he added.
