Wrestling News: Norwegian public-service broadcaster NRK is to show the 2021 World Wrestling Championships, which will take place in Oslo.

The broadcaster has acquired the rights to the event, which will be held next year from October 2 to 10 at the new Jordal Amfi indoor arena in the Norwegian capital.

NRK will broadcast coverage across its NRK 1 and NRK 2 channels, along with streaming action on NRK TV.

Norwegian wrestler Stig-Andre Berge recently announced that he would prolong his career so that he could take part in the World Championships on home soil. The 36-year-old Greco-Roman wrestler won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2016, the European Broadcasting Union, the umbrella body of mainly public broadcasters, secured exclusive media rights to wrestling’s European and World Championships from 2017 to 2020. The deal with world body United World Wrestling included rights to the 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Wrestling Championships (with no World Championships held in 2020).
