Wrestling News: Olympic medallist Frank Chamizo is ready to face twin world champion, Kyle Dake, at their upcoming exhibition match on July 25 in Austin, Texas. The Italian wrestler has been training at the Columbia University, New York under Valentin Kalika. “Frank is getting ready, everything is fine with him,” the coach said, adding that the wrestler is expected to earn approximately over Rs 75 lakh from the match. Chamizo and Dake will lock horns in the 78kg weight class which is unfamiliar territory for both the wrestlers.
Kalika says that moving up in the weight class will be easier for the Italian than the US wrestler as it is his usual body weight. “He already has that weight. It will be easier than Dake, who will have to drive off extra kilos. There was a time when Dake fought in the 86kg category and had almost got to the Olympics in Rio. But he lost in the trials to J’den Cox,” he added.
The match is expected to attract a large viewership as wrestling will be returning after three months hiatus. Moreover, it is a match between two champions which in itself is a bonus. FloWrestling is organising the event and will be the broadcasting it live on their platform. Kalika says that both the wrestlers will be earning huge money from the event.
“The total amount of his earnings will consist of a guaranteed fee for the fight and the percentage of money received from the monthly fee to the Flowrestling website, which organizes this show and will conduct a live broadcast from it. If you are not a Flowrestling subscriber, then you will have to pay $ 150, but this is not a fee for watching one show, but for the opportunity to watch all the broadcasts of this site for a year. Flowrestling practices the sale of individual broadcasts, as, for example, it was with the wrestling show “Rooftop Battle” that was held recently in Chicago.
