Rico also explained that initially, Mr. McMahon had not understood John Cena’s earlier career in WWE. The former superstar also added that Vince McMahon once tried to give push off to other guys in WWE instead of Cena, but John Cena proved him wrong despite of McMahon’s conspiracy against Cena, and he become the one of the most successful superstars in WWE.

“To tell you the truth, he didn’t understand Cena’s character at all, was going to cut him. He didn’t understand… he said ‘I don’t get it, I don’t get it’ and he let him run with him for a little bit and look what happened, face of the company.” Rico on Cena.
Rico also revealed that Vince McMahon was not very much close to Cena in his earlier wrestling career. And the gimmick, that was given to Cena was a attempt to make him a failure, but Cena made the best of it and proved the chairman wrong and become the brand in WWE.
