WWE News: Top 5 things you can get fined for in WWE

By   - 04/06/2020

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is not your average workplace. Professionalism is one thing which is taken very seriously at the professional wrestling industry. And breaking it can lead to hefty fines by the management. There are some traditional yet strange rules for which a WWE superstar can get fined as well. Here are the top 5 things you can get fined for in WWE.

Blading:
Once a common practice inside the WWE ring, blading — the act of cutting your own forehead with a razor — has now been banned. And Batista had found that the hard way in 2008 when he went old school in a match against Chris Jericho. As per the WhatCulture report, after an 18-second phone call, Vince McMahon met with the pair and fined the Beast $100,000, while Y2J was penalised $5,000.

Chair shots to the head:
Again one the most common things during the Attitude Era, chair shots to the head has been barred for many years as per WWE’s concussion protocol. Fans have seen reminiscence of these chair shots to the head return on several occasions but it has always been followed by hefty fines. The Undertaker, Triple H, Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton are the latest to get fine for breaking this rule.

Any ‘intentional’ blow to the head:
Chair shots to the head are not the only thing covered in the company’s concussion protocol. WhatCulture report says that fines can also be applied for ‘any blow to the head that is deemed an ‘Intentional act’.

While it is not clear what it means, it is likely WWE ban the use of any foreign object to the head, such as kendo sticks, rather than just punches and kicks.

Touching the crowd:
Perhaps a more preventive measure than anything, WWE stars are barred from interacting too closely with someone from the live audience. Mark Henry once revealed that he was fined heavily for disobeying this rule. “We are not allowed to put our hands on nobody. $70,000 fine if you reach out into the crowd”.

Drinking alcohol:
According to WWE’s wellness policy, stars are expected to be sober when performing. Interestingly, they are also banned from consuming alcohol at any time within a 12 hour period of event or performance.
