The Iran Wrestling Federation (IWF) has cancelled all the events until July this year. The decision was taken on United World Wrestling (UWW) recommendation to not conduct any wrestling competitions until July.
Mohammad Ibrahim Emami, IWF spokesperson said, “The Wrestling Federation will cancel its sports programs until July of this year, according to the recommendation of the World Wrestling Union to the National Federations”.
“As you know the current situation in the world due to the spread of coronavirus is serious also most sports competitions, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, have either been cancelled or postponed. In this regard, on April 7, UWW announced in a letter to the national federations that it will postpone all its championship competitions, which were scheduled for July 31, and the new date of the competition will be announced,” he added reported IWF.
Iran will not organise any training camps too until July, keeping in line with UWW orders.
“No training camps will be held until July 31 and until the return of normal conditions,” he said.
