They won the world championships in 2019 but still are uncertain for their places in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Reason, Natalia Vorobyeva (Russia), Linda Morais (Canada), Kyle Dake (USA) all are wrestlers par excellence and won the 2019 Nur-Sultan world championships but in the non-olympic categories. And now they are moving to new weight categories in order to stake claim for a place in the Tokyo 2020. The Rome ranking series starting from Wednesday will be their first test in the new weight categories.

Olympic and 2 time world champ Vorobyeva moves to 76kg

The reigning 72kg world champion is making her 2020 debut up at 76kg at next week’s Matteo Pellicone ranking series. This category will be nothing less than group of death as 11 world medallist will be seen in action at Rome. The most interesting match-up will be between 5 time world champion Adeline Gray vs Natalia Vorobyeva.

Linda Morais from Canada moves down to 57 from 59kg
Reigning 59kg world champion Linda MORAIS (CAN) is making her debut down at the Olympic weight of 57kg at the Rome Ranking Series and will challenge Rong Ningning of China who won silver medal at the world’s.

2 time world champ Kyle Dake moves down to 74kg
Kyle DAKE (USA) won his second consecutive 79kg world title with a 4-0 record in Nur-Sultan, including a 10-4 win over Rio Olympic bronze medalist Jabrayil HASANOV (AZE) in the finals. Through his two world championship appearances, Dake has outscored his eight opponents
70-8 (2018: 37-0, 2019: 33-8) en route to his pair of gold medals. He’ll make his debut down at the Olympic weight of 74kg in Rome and fans will look forward to mouth-watering clash against Frank Chamizo of Italy.
