After the disappointment of the Indian Greco-Roman wrestling team on the opening day of World Wrestling Clubs Cup, Indian freestyle will be in action on the day 2 of the event. The Indian team led by U23 world championship silver medallist Ravinder is clubbed with China, Georgia and club team from Iran in the Group A.
India has fielded some strong wrestlers for the event in the form of Ravinder, Gaurav Baliyan in 74kg.

First Day loses for the Greco-Roman team
Earlier on the first day of the World Wrestling Clubs Cup in Bojnourd, Iran began on a very disappointing note for the Indian Greco-Roman wrestling team. The Indian team which came to Iran only with 6 wrestlers had to pay price for not fielding full-fledged team and that resulted in India losing out both their team encounters on an opening day.
The Indian team lost to Iran’s champion club Big Bazar by 8-2 margin in the morning session. India could only field 6 wrestlers in this Best of 10 bout competition. For India, only Arjun Halakurki and Ravinder won their bouts. India had to concede 4 of their bouts.
In the evening session, Indian team lost out to Azerbaijan team by 4-6 margins. Again the same story, India could only field 6 wrestlers in best of 10 bout competition. Despite of leading 4-2 at one point of time, India had to concede next 4 bouts to lose the tie against the Azerbaijan team.
India freestyle team will be in action on Thursday.
